Financial Accountant - Village Accounting

RetireAustralia currently operates a portfolio of 27 established villages throughout New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia.

About the role

We are currently recruiting for a dynamic and team orientated Financial Accountant to join our Brisbane Support Office on a 9 month maternity leave contract. Reporting directly to the Team Leader Village Finance, you will be an integral part of the team and will assist in:


  • Preparation of the Village financial statements and budgets;
  • Monthly departmental overhead reporting and analysis
  • Monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports;
  • GST, FBT and other statutory reporting;
  • Bank and General Ledger reconciliations including intercompany accounts;
  • Village related entities invoicing/reconciliations;
  • Assist in the annual audit process, liaising with external Auditors;
  • Systems and process improvements; and
  • Ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis as required.

About you

You will be a team player with a can do attitude, exceptional attention to detail and a strong work ethic. The successful candidate will have;

  • Degree in Business or Commerce; Majoring in Accounting
  • CPA or CA qualifications;
  • A valid Police Check within 6 months from date of issue;
  • At least 3 years post grad relevant work experience;
  • Strong skills around financial accounting and month-end reporting;
  • Proven ability to provide high quality, timely processing of accounts to the business;
  • Sound knowledge of GST;
  • Previous experience working with Microsoft Dynamics Navision or MYOB (advantageous);
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritise workload;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
